So as far as veneers, a good candidate's typically somebody that does not have severe overlap of their teeth, or severe crowding of their teeth. There are some cases we can do, but a lot of those cases may be cases where we want to get the teeth in better alignment first with clear aligners, and then come back and do the veneers. A really good candidate is somebody that maybe has spacing between their teeth, teeth that have chipped or broken, or teeth that have bonding that have discolored. Patients that have whitened, but they're not as white, they want this Hollywood smile. They want perfect teeth, every one to be lined up exactly the same length and width, that's a perfect candidate typically, for veneers. Somebody that, they drink a lot of tea, or smoke, or drink a lot of coffee, and they constantly are chasing the color of their teeth with whitening. You can put veneers on, they don't stain. They're gonna be whatever color that the day that we picked them, and put them in their mouth. So to me, those are probably the best candidates. Undersized, small teeth, spaces, where a patient wants to build up their smile, have a broader smile, maybe longer teeth, can't really do that just by straightening them.
Dental Veneers a great cosmetic dentistry option because they cover a variety of imperfections, including:
- Minor cracks
- Stains and discoloration
- Small gaps between teeth
- Worn-down teeth
- Misshapen teeth

Benefits of Dental Veneers
Dental veneers correct some of the same issues as dental crowns. But unlike dental crowns, little alteration of your teeth is required. Thanks to Dr. Tieken’s expertise, we use two types of dental veneer – Lumineers and prepless veneer – that require practically no modification of your teeth.
In addition to keeping your teeth largely intact, benefits of dental veneers include:
- No special care needed. Just brush and floss your teeth as usual.
- They last a long time. With proper care, dental veneer should last several years, perhaps as long as 20 years.
- You won’t even know they are there. Because they are so thin, you won’t even feel your veneers.
Dental Veneers Process
On your first visit to our League City, TX dentist office, Dr. Tieken matches the color of your natural teeth and takes photos and digital impressions. That information goes to an off-site lab, which creates your veneer.
About a week later, Dr. Tieken ensures they fit perfectly before securely bonding them to the front of your teeth. Depending on the type of dental veneers chosen, he may shave a tiny portion of enamel from your teeth first.
Lumineers are thin, porcelain veneer that are placed directly over the fronts of your teeth. There is little to no prep required, which means less discomfort for you! In fact, you won’t need to be numbed at all, which means no shots!
While most veneer require at least three visits to the dentist office, we can transform your smile with Lumineers in just two appointments! In addition to being easy to place, Lumineers are proven to last! Studies show that Lumineers can last for 20 years with no signs of discoloration.
Can Anyone Get Dental Veneers?
While dental veneers work well for most people, exceptions include those with teeth damaged by fractures, decay or large tooth fillings, those who do not have enough tooth enamel to support veneer, and those who grind their teeth.
