If you're interested in straighter teeth, I think this is kind of the greatest age to be able to have that option, especially as an adult. I've tried for years to get an adult patient to do brackets and wires and go to the orthodontist, and one of the crazy things is two of my best friends are orthodontists. I pretty much refused to do clear aligners in the beginning. All of a sudden, I kept having patients coming back in my office with clear aligners in their mouth because they went down the street or went somewhere else to get them done. In the beginning, I was skeptical because I was like, ‘Well, maybe these things don't work. Maybe that's why they don't ...’ Now, I mean, 10 years into doing them, it's amazing what you can do with them.
We make sure that patient's a great candidate. We make sure that they're involved. And then the key to anything, any clear aligner case, whether it's ... and even traditional orthodontics, you have to have retainers. Ours come with retainers. When you're done, we don't want any relapse. We don't want you to all the sudden ... because most of the cases that we do in clear aligners were adults that had braces when they were kids and quit wearing their retainers, and all the teeth start to shift. In our office, I mean, that's really, clear aligners are our option, because we know that adult patients are going to be more compliant, and they're going to be happy not to have the brackets and wires.
Orthodontics used to mean years of having an uncomfortable mouthful of metal. But now we offer more modern methods of straightening teeth in our League City, TX dentist office called short-term orthodontics and Invisalign clear beraces. No more closed-lip smiles in photographs or picking bits of food out of braces!

Experienced Cosmetic Dentist
You’re in great hands with our League City , TX dentist Dr. J. Derek Tieken, a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, and our capable dental team. Dr. Derek Tieken has appeared on Bay Area Houston Magazine’s annual list of best dentists for 16 years straight. He beautified the smiles of two former holders of the Mrs. Texas title!
Tieken Smiles Dentistry is a Preferred Invisalign Provider. Invisalign uses a series of customized clear plastic aligners instead of metal wires and brackets to shift your teeth into place. Invisalign advantages include:
- Appearance. The clear, BPA-free plastic aligners are practically invisible. Most people probably won’t even noticing you’re wearing them! And you can remove them for special occasions.
- Convenience. Your treatment involves simply moving to a new aligner every few weeks. You won’t have to make as many trips to our League City, TX dentist office for adjustments during your treatment.
- Comfort. With no brackets or wire to rub against your mouth, most people find Invisalign more comfortable than braces.
- Ease of care. Because you take them out when eating and drinking, food won’t get caught in your aligners. And you remove them when brushing and flossing, so good oral hygiene couldn’t be simpler.
ClearCorrect: Another Choice for Orthodontic Aligners
We like to offer our patients choices with their dental treatments whenever possible. So Tieken Smiles Dentistry also offers ClearCorrect, another brand of clear plastic aligners that is similar to Invisalign. In a complimentary consultation, Dr. Derek Tieken can help you determine which short-term orthodontics treatment is the best option for you.
