Dental implants are permanent oral appliances that are used to replace a missing tooth or missing teeth. Because of their versatility, stability and life-long durability given proper care, they are an exceptional restoration option. In addition to their natural look, feel and function, dental implants have the added benefit of replacing both the visible and invisible parts of the missing tooth, preventing bone deterioration associated with tooth loss and encouraging life-long oral health.
Dental implants contain two main parts, and the implant process requires two visits to our office to complete. After your initial consultation with our dentists, your first appointment with our team will be for your dental implant placement. During this visit, the first part of your implant, which is a small titanium screw known as an implant post, is placed into your jawbone at the site of your missing tooth. There will then be a healing period, allowing the biocompatible post to fully integrate with the surrounding bone, after which, you can come in for your second appointment. During this second visit, our dentists will fit your chosen implant restoration over the implant post or posts and make any adjustments needed to ensure a beautiful, natural-looking and fully functional restoration.
There are many restoration options to complete your dental implant, and our dentists will discuss your special needs and make recommendations during your implant consultation. For patients only missing one tooth, we make recommend a single implant crown, while an implant-supported bridge or full or partial implant-supported denture is more suitable for patients looking to replace multiple missing teeth. We also offer All-on-4 implant restorations. Regardless of which restoration you choose, our team will make sure it is custom-designed to fit your mouth comfortably and naturally, and we are happy to answer any questions you may have about the care and maintenance of your implant and restoration.
